    Hi!
    I just downloaded NSFE in hopes of accessing my shared USB Harddrive that is directly connected to my Router (NetGear DGN2200). It is connected via Samba and I can see the content of thw HDD in Windows 7 (NetGear call it “readyshare”).
    The path I have to enter in Win 7 is “\\readyshare\USB_Storage”. I can access it on Win just like any other drive.

    Interestingly, NFSE finds READYSHARE when I click on “Search” in the app. But it gives me that “Unknow user or password” error. On Win 7 I don’t need a pw. IP is 169.168.0.1. I tried that as well, also with 455 and 139.
    What else could it be?
    Thanks!
    -Alex

      @AlexanderM,

      Please, try
      readyshare\USB_Storage
      as the server and see if it can connect this way.
      IS it full annonymous or you have a username (without password)?

    I cannot seem to set up my Z10 to work with my PC with Windows 7. I cannot seem to find your blog of Faqs that walks me through the set up.

    • Editor says:

      @Gustavo,

      ¿Puedes acceder a tu equipo desde otros PC’s de tu casa? El primer paso es comprobar que tu equipo está compartiendo correctamente.

      @Les,

      Is your XP pc sharing working from another PC? I mean, can you get access to your shared folders from another PC?

  5. Les says:

    Yes. From a windows 7 pc, using drive mapping.

    • Editor says:

      @Les,

      Can you access that win7 pc?
      Are you using user/pass to access XP or annonymous?
      Where are youtrying from, Playbook or BB10 device?

  6. Gustavo says:

    Hola de nuevo estoy compartiendo con otros equipos. y si se puede acceder, pero no funciona con la playbook.

  7. Editor says:

    @Gustavo,

    ¿El botón de buscar te encuentra el PC?

    ¿Usas una cuenta con usuario y clave o anonima?

    ¿Has probado la ultima version de la app en Playbook seleccionando la opcion “Claves antiguas”?

  8. Les says:

    Yes I can access that win7 pc.
    On my xp, I have tried accessing with username/password and anonymous. Both generate same error.
    I am using a HTC one s, running 4.1.1 android

  9. Editor says:

    @Less,

    Have you tried “guest” as username?

  10. Les says:

    Yes , it connects with guest and I can see folders and files.
    However, although the application runs the .wma, mp3, .mp4, it will not run .jpg, .doc, .xls files: it only allows these to be copied.

    Can you advise on the solution?

  11. Editor says:

    @Les,

    Only video and audio files can be played without copying, just streaming, you have to copy any other document.

    Anytime I try to connect to a unc on a 10.1.1.x network the program simply crashes on my Z10. I can connect to unc on a 192.168.1.x network and also on a 141.186.x.x network.

    But the 10.1.1.x network crashes the app. I have tried 5 different file servers on the network.

    Both the 10.x and the 141.x networks are handled by similar wireless routers so I do not think it is a network issue.

    Have you seen any issue like this before?

    • Editor says:

      @Kevin,

      To be honest,no, and can’t figure out why!
      I’ll try configure a small environment like yours to test. A craash usually means an uncontrolled exception, so something might be happening.

  13. Kevin says:

    Thank you.. I will continue to test on my side to see if I can figure something out.

  14. Blackberry Playbook User says:

    I just downloaded your Net Shares File Explorer app and the description said it was capable of playing movies streaming over the network…however, I can’t figure out how to get it to work. Do you have any ideas or can you help me? I can see the m4v files but I cannot play them….I can just delete, or copy them from the remote storage device.

    Thanks.

    • Editor says:

      @blackberry Playbook user,
      Rename those files from m4v to mp4 as m4v is not in valid extensions. Play menu option will appear now.
      When streaming mp4 files be sure to have read the advise on this site.
