    I have a galaxy s6 and a 2012 nexus 7. My goal was to have bluetooth tethering automatically start when the devices paired. As of now, nothing happens. I have your app installed on both devices. I have a check mark next to the device names in the app.

    Hi,

    I have a Samsung S5. Bluetooth is on in my car, but I must allow the tethering with both on the S5.
    Is the allow normal?

    Thanks

    Hi,
    Your app is good I do have one problem I have a entune system which is Toyota I have bluetooth headphones too I can only have one box checked at a time for it to work successfully. I’m supposed to be able to have both checked when I do it cannot connect because it sees another device.

    Thanks…
    Monique

      @Monique,
      Why would you want to activate thetering with headphones?
      I will make some tests to see what happens with two devices

  4. Monique says:

    When I choose my car the app accepts it but then unchecked the car and checks my headphones. Originally I thought both could be checked but since my last email to you I realized no.
    Thanks…
    Monique

    I use your app every day and am so thankful for the work you put in making it.
    If the app / your website had a “buy me a beer / donation” button I would gladly do that!

      @Stefan,
      Thankyou very much for your support 🙂
      I’m just thinking on adding a new feature to the app, some kind of automatically enabling Bluetooth without using fingers. I have always my BT off and only turn on when needed, and when on my car I often forget to do that so I want a way to easy enable it. I’m thinking on something like shaking the smartphone or something like that. Another approach could be detecting movement with location (GPS), but I usually have it off too so it would not fix my issue 😛

    @Jesus,
    turning off Bluetooth is not really a necessity to me because I have it permanently turned on because of my Pebble watch.
    But I can see your intention saving some battery by turning off Bluetooth when not needed. But leaving instead GPS turned on draws also some power. So is the difference in power consumption of GPS / Bluetooth really that significant?

    Hola!,

    No me funciona. Tengo un Note 4 con Android 6 y no me funciona la app. Marco las conexiones BT que deben acivar la conexión compartida pero no la activa cuando enciendo el dispositivo BT. Estoy probando, por no bajar al coche, con el reloj de Samsung, el Gear S3, que va por BT. ¿Puede ser por eso?

    Gracias

    • Editor says:

      @Javier,
      La verdad es que no lo se, no he probado nunca con un reloj, aunque la teoría debería ser la misma independientemente del dispositivo. No es problema de Android 6, eso lo se seguro ya que me ha funcionado siempre en 5, 6 y 7.
      Prueba desde el coche a ver. Ojo, el bluetooth del teléfono tiene que estar conectado, la aplicación habilita el thetering, no el BT.

    Hola Jesus:
    La he instalado pero veo que no doy con que se conecte automaticamente al arrancar el coche.
    Hago lo siguiente:
    Selecciono el coche en la app, voy a MI XC60, ajustes, conexiones de internet y selecciono conexion por bluetooth, selecciono mi movil (hay otros de casa memorizados) y se conecta bien. Pero al apagar el coche y volverlo a arrancar no se me conecta automaticamente como creo que tendria que ser.
    Que hago mal?.
    Hago bien en lo de conectarme a internet a traves de bluetooth o tiene que ser a traves de wifi?
    Y una ultima pregunta: tiene que estar conectado el wifi del movil?. (supongo que si pero confirmamelo por favor)

    • Editor says:

      @Jesus,

      No sé si entiendo bien todo el proceso, pero la primera pregunta es básica.
      Cuando enciendes el coche ¿tu teléfono se conecta a él directamente? Es decir, ¿vas al botón del teléfono del coche y está conectado al tuyo?

      Esta app es para que el coche se pueda conectar a internet a través del móvil una vez el teléfono se ha conectado al coche, pero la conexión telefono-coche debe hacerse primero, si no se conecta automáticamente algo pasa.

    Solucionado el problema.
    Ocurria que conectaba el internet del movil a traves de bluetooth y no a traves de wifi como se tiene que hacer. Ahora ya me funciona y te felicito por la APP.
    Una pregunta: al tener activado en el movil la funcion de compartir conexion, este, consume mas bateria o no tiene la menor importancia?

  10. javier says:

    hola….tengo un problema…no se si hago algo mal…
    1….me descargo tu aplicación..al abrirla me aparecen los dispositivos con los que ya estoy emparejado con el bluetooth.
    2…selecciono el del coche..
    3 …voy al coche y el bluetooth del coche y del móvil se emparejan …pero no tengo internet.
    que hago mal? si lo conecto de forma manuala través del icono wifi compartido funciona sin problemas(no con tu aplicación).
    en el móvil (Samsung s8)tengo activada la opción modem bluetooth siempre….wifi compartido no(porque sino cuando llego a casa no se me conecta al wifi de casa).
    gracias.

      @javier,

      Cuando se conecta el coche al móvil por bluetooth te aparece en el móvil habilitada la conexión con partida? Es el primer paso para que funcione la conexión desde el coche.

    Hi
    Positive comments on Google Play that it works with MB COMAND, but I can’t get the internet connection working even though BT tethering is showing as on. Do you have any guidance on how to connect?

  13. N Rob says:

    Great app, used Blue Car Tethering for over a year with my old Moto phone running android 5. Worked perfectely.
    I’ve now got a Huawei Honor 9 phone running android 8, and I’m sorry to say the app doesn’t work with this phone.
    Are you aware of any issues with android 8?
    Is there a fix on the horizon, I would love to be able to use this app with my new phone.

  14. N Rob says:

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    I suspect the problem is associated with the huawei’s battery optimisation feature.

    I’ve disabled that feature for this app with some success. Not sure if it 100% reliable, sometimes it hasn’t worked but I may not be giving it enough time. I’ll test it over the next few days and report back.

  15. Starb7 says:

    With regards to N Robs comment, I too have had issues, mainly since updating to Orio on my Huawei 10 Lite. Previously, everything worked just fine. I know why it’s not working and how to get around it.

    I have found that the app no longer auto-starts with Android and if you do a ‘stop all apps’ by using the ‘Recent Apps’ and closing everything, the Car tether app also gets stopped even though (presumably) it is running as a service.

    My workaround is to have a shortcut on the home screen and I just tap that to start the app then carry on using the phone as normal. As long as I don’t do a ‘close all apps’ it will work fine all day.

    So, the issue seems to be; a) not auto-starting and b) not running as a service (rather than an app) and/or not auto-restarting if it’s been closed in error.

    Otherwise, this is a simple and great tool and would love to see it working as it used to do 🙂

    TIA

    • Editor says:

      @Starb7 and all,
      You all are right, the problem is nowadays most devices come with battery optimization features that just shut completely off any background service an app might be running and this is what is happening.
      This app starts automatically on startup a background service but battery optimizers stops it. Although you start it again running the app, it will probably be closed again.
      The best choice, as N Robe says, is to disable battery optimization for the app. You have to find the best way depending on your device, you should look on settings -> battery for any feature regarding optimization.

      • N Rob says:

        My Huawei Honor 9 phone recently updated it’s Android software from

        From Build: 8.0.0.266

        To Build: 8.0.0.375

        All is now ok with this app and the other apps that this phone had problems with.

        I still have “battery optimisation” disabled for these apps, don’t know if that’s still necessary.
